Emma began her career in the Early Childhood Industry in 2005 in Australia. She started as an Assistant Educator and quickly realised that she would dedicate herself to this profession. She completed her Diploma of Children’s Services at The National Institute of Early Childhood Education in 2008 and by this time she was already working as an Assistant Director.
In 2009 Emma obtained her first Centre Director position and continued to hold that position until leaving Australia in 2016. After moving to Canada, she pursued studies at Pacific Rim Early Childhood Institute to convert her qualification to Canadian standards and again worked her way up from an ECE to a Centre Director by 2021.
Emma started with Willowbrae Academy in 2024, having the opportunity to join the management team that opened our Sunwood location which quickly thrived. She feels it is her mission in life to make childcare a better place for all children, families and educators within her services.
She is passionate about Attachment Theory and believes that secure relationships with consistent caregivers provide the basis for learning and growth in all areas of development. Alongside relationship-based care, Emma believes that Emergent (child-led), play based learning programs are the key to enriching children’s learning. Research shows that children learn the most about what they are the most interested in, so providing programs that are specifically tailored to the interests of each unique group of children is essential.
She is committed to driving the continuous growth and evolution of our Sunwood Academy.
